Sources Acquires ProNet LAN Systems
HINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Software Sources announced today that it had acquired ProNet LAN
Systems, Inc. as a wholly-owned subsidiary. In addition, ProNet's
talented staff including its president, Ms. Tracylee Christensen, is
also joining Software Sources.
ProNet is a computer support company that has been in business for
over seven years. During its existence it had built an excellent track
record for providing uptime to its growing list of greater Boston
companies. The typical firm ProNet supports is a company ranging from
3 to 50 employees that relies heavily upon computers to perform its
business functions, but doesn't have full-time resources to manage
these important assets. For such firms ProNet has provided a high
level of support ranging from installing/repairing hardware to
upgrading operating systems to installing/maintaining networks. In
essence, ProNet served as the in-house IT department on demand for
approximately 50 firms.
Software Sources is a well-established Massachusetts-based company.
They have been successfully implementing client/server systems and
peforming application development for companies since 1979. They are a
Microsoft Great Plains Solution Provider, and recently became a
Microsoft Great Plains Small Business Manager provider, an application
geared toward small businesses. The firm's staff is very knowledgeable
in the area of Local and Wide Area Networking with both Windows and
NetWare product lines.
Frank Buckley, senior principal at Software Sources, stated that
"firms familiar with Software Sources will recognize that this
acquisition fits our company's profile perfectly, as Software Sources
has provided a similar range of support services on a greater scale
for more than 20 years." Mr. Buckley also explained that this
acquisition remedies a typical problem faced by smaller support
companies, i.e., the ability to accommodate peak demand and/or provide
full coverage during vacations, holidays, etc. He explained that for
firms the size of ProNet, handling peak support loads was particularly
challenging because problems in the computer support industry often
happen at the same time. The added depth of services and the
established support infrastructure of Software Sources will
substantially mitigate these inevitable spikes in support demand
without increasing the low costs and rates that ProNet clients have
enjoyed for years.
Ms. Tracylee Christensen stated that she had deliberated this move
for several months as she wanted to insure that the company
complementing ProNet's activities would be able to fully handle the
needs of ProNet's clients with the level of integrity and thoroughness
that they had come to expect over the past several years. She states,
"I am not only confident that Software Sources will continue this
level of quality support, but I know they will also add important
layers of value-added services, e.g., 7x24 availability and the
ability to offer and support a variety of software suite offerings
geared toward smaller companies."
